Conviction - 1st Thessalonians 4:14

What is the key to your faith? What are you passionate about? Each person must develop a bullet-proof foundation for why you do what you do and how you do it. There can be no chinks in the armor.

For a follower of Jesus Christ the foundation is this: the resurrection of Jesus is both proof and sneak peek of our own.

The question is can we trust this promise? Can we stand firm that the resurrection is an actuality? Was the tomb really empty? At the end of the day you better have a competent and well-thought-out answer for these crucial questions.

Paul wrote regarding these queries in 1st Corinthians 15:17 - “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” Therefore, if Jesus Christ has been raised, then His disciples will join Him; but if not, then His followers are a laughingstock.

The resurrection, is therefore, the linchpin and foundation for our Christian faith. Our foundations become the first line of defense when facing adversity.

Lessons From the Ant - Proverbs 6:6-8

Have you ever watched a group of ants? They run around like mad, working tirelessly all day long, never stopping, and never resting. And for what? To build a tiny little hill that could be wiped out at any moment. All their work could be for nothing, and yet they keep on building. They never give up.

What is the lesson? Many folks believe that anyone who would dedicate themselves to this type of strenuous labor is a little crazy. Some work harder at getting out of work than most do at working.

Can you pick up on the wisdom of Solomon in Proverbs 6:6-8 [“You lazy fool, look at the ant. Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two. Nobody has to tell it what to do. . . “]? What insight can be obtained by watching how the ants work? Check this out: 1] An ant works hard without someone telling him what to do. (“But the coach didn’t say we had to attend those extra workout sessions.”) 2] An ant works hard even though no one oversees it. (You know what happens when the teacher leaves the room.) 3] An ant plans ahead. (“Why work on this report now? - - It’s not due until next week.”) 4] An ant makes hay while the sun shines. (“I’ll jump on that project after I (fill in the blank).”)

One of the striking aspects of ‘ant life’ includes a perfect sharing of tasks, food, information, protection, and responsibility with great devotion. There is no sign of selfish struggle. They seek to obey the Creator God’s orders in great discipline and without fail.

Perhaps, we should submit to God like the ant.

I love you!
