A man plans his course but the Lord guides his steps. I thought of this as I was running this morning. Much of the pain a man goes though could be avoided if the first step he makes in his planning is on his knees, talking to the one who knows all and is in all. I wonder how often men make even simple decisions without planning their course through prayer first to the Lord, and as a result, find out later it was the wrong decision, which in turn causes heart ache, pain, financial loss, suffering, etc. It's kind of like doing something then suffering the consequences of it later. Yes, the Lord puts trials in front of us to teach us and I am grateful of that. Okay, I must admit maybe not so much during every trial that I'm thankful, but when it is over and I grow from it then yes, I can say thank you Lord...I am also so thankful that we can go to Him on every issue we face and seek His knowledge of what decision to make. Thank you Heavenly Father for allowing us men to come to your throne. Thank you also for the assurance that one day there will be no more suffering, no more tears and no more pain.

The book of Nehemiah is another great picture of unity in the people of that time. They were called to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. They were not builders of walls, but perfume makers, goldsmiths, priests, and district officials with their daughters by their side. Together as stated in Neh 4:6b the people had a mind to work and by God's power in 52 days the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt. What I like about this whole book comes in chaper 6 vs 15-16. So the wall was complete and when the enemy heard of it and saw it, the enemy lost their confidence because they realize that this work had been done with the help of God... Unity in the body of believers does nothing but defeat the enemy.
Thank you Pastor D for this message and the study of Phillipians Tom H.

So true my friend! I need to seek His council on how to "slow down" this life that I'm living. The microwave culture has us multi-tasking and moving 1000 mph, and that doesn't bode well for a life of servanthood and following His ways. I am tired of feeling "worn out" from my work life, and am feeling pumped by reading your daily tidbits. These urge me on to get back into His Word daily to continue pursuing true "wisdom."

Thanks brother!

This makes me think of the story of the good Samaritan. How many times have we had the opportunity to help someone in need and drove or walked on by them (maybe even thinking something like "Get a job dude.")? I need to have the kind of faith to be His hands and feet in all those situations that I'm presented with. Oh how I may reap spiritual benefits if I allowed myself to be stretched and used in those ways! Thanks for challenging us Dale! I love you buddy :)

Great prayer! "Help us be watchful for the unexpected ways that You may answer our prayers." I do well in prayer understanding that prayers are not always answered how I want them to, but I've never thought to pray for the vision of seeing how else He may answer them! Good stuff brother! Thanks for posting these "nuggets!"
